A standard machine carries its needles in groups — threes, sevens, nines — soldered together so the line arrives thick and forgiving. We work with one.
A single needle lays down a line about as fine as the mark a drypoint burin leaves in copper. There is no shading to bury a wobble in, no bold outline to tidy the edge afterwards. Whatever the hand does, the skin records — permanently. That exposure is the whole discipline, and it is why every fine-line piece in this studio is drawn, resolved and approved on paper before the needle is ever unwrapped.

Fine line · single needle · script
Draws from botanical plates and archive handwriting — hairline florals, fine script, small dense illustration that still reads at postcard scale. The right hand for a first tattoo, and for anyone who wants a drawing rather than a statement.
Blackwork · dotwork · cover-ups
Works in field and stipple — blackwork planned like an etching's dark ground, dotwork gradients built point by point across a shoulder. Takes large-scale cover-ups and full or half sleeves: bring what you are hiding, not what you have been told cannot be fixed.
How a commission works
How to book a fine line tattoo in Margate — or any custom piece with either hand — stated plainly. The studio releases its diary once a month. No walk-ins, no waiting-list limbo: five stations between your idea and healed skin.
Books open on the first of the month at 11:00. Send the form below — the idea, the placement, the hand you want.
A design consultation, then your piece is drawn and refined on paper until you approve it. Custom one-offs only; nothing is reused.
A deposit holds your session date. If life gets in the way, it carries over — never lost.
Needles and inks are single-use, opened in front of you at the desk. The piece is executed in one deliberate pass.
You come back at six weeks so we can read the healed line together. Any touch-up is free — always.
No walk-ins— the door opens to booked names only.
Deposits carry over— if life gets in the way, nothing is forfeited.
Custom only— no flash books; the sole exception is a dated flash-day event, announced with the drop.
